Fermentation Biotechnologist £22-30k + Shift Allowance South East Ref: AF/014710

12 month Fixed Term Contract

As fermentation biotechnologist you will be a key member of a fast developing and expanding fermentation group ensuring that products are manufactured to a high standard of quality. This position is an excellent grounding role for further development in the biotechnology industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Responsibilities:
• Various duties which will ensure that products are manufactured within the Inoculum and Fermentation areas in accordance with schedules, safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practises
• To follow Batch ownership procedures when nominated as a cell line representative
• Create, write and revise GMP documents and templates
• Ensure that high standards of documentation completion are followed
• Assist in Lot Disposition activities.
• Carry out qualification activities where required
• Direct involvement in the manufacturing process
• Demonstrate a thorough and complete understanding of safety requirements, GMP compliance and the plant and process, by performing assigned manufacturing duties with minimum supervision
• When a system has been assigned, become a system expert for that equipment, including weekly cleaning and maintenance assessments of the equipment and the associated area
• Identify any Continuous Improvements to the process/equipment and drive through to completion any projects to which you have been assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Life sciences background e.g. Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences
Experience working to a high standard of quality (preferably GMP)
Relevant industrial fermentation experience
Manufacturing Plant experience desirable
Excellent communicator
Ability to ensure objectives are met in an appropriate timescale

Shifts:
12 hour shifts (6am – 6pm)
2 week rotating shift pattern, this includes working 1 weekend in 2.

Shift premium – 19.44%
